{"id":469,"date":"2024-05-20T19:32:22","date_gmt":"2024-05-20T19:32:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thecatbirdsang.com\/www\/?p=469"},"modified":"2024-05-20T19:32:22","modified_gmt":"2024-05-20T19:32:22","slug":"what-i-should-have-told-my-mother-when-i-was-twenty-five","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thecatbirdsang.com\/www\/what-i-should-have-told-my-mother-when-i-was-twenty-five\/","title":{"rendered":"What I Should Have Told My Mother When I Was Twenty Five"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>What I Should Have Told My Mom When I Was Twenty-five<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Before she died, I don\u2019t think<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I appreciated all my mother did for me until I left home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I would thank her for keeping the house so clean,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I get mine dusted, vacuumed once a month,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I am lucky to dust mop the dog hairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No more tears<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; I didn\u2019t know how much energy<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>it took to keep the house clean, laundry done,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>grocery shopping; now I run out of energy<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>with any of these tasks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No more tears<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; After my brother and I left,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>she took care of the barn<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>and horses: feeding,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>turning out, mucking the stalls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No more tears<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; I thank her for going forward<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>even though her hands were ravaged<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>by arthritis.
