The Mailbox<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Used to love walking to the mailbox<\/p>\n\n\n\n
with its promise of a letter from my mother.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
No matter that the letters listed doctor<\/p>\n\n\n\n
appointments and health reports<\/p>\n\n\n\n
marking my parents\u2019 decline. It was still<\/p>\n\n\n\n
a note keeping me attached<\/p>\n\n\n\n
to the last place I called home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Outside of magazines, most mail<\/p>\n\n\n\n
goes into the recycle. Not too many bills,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
they come in emails. Occasionally a note<\/p>\n\n\n\n
from someone thanking me for my donation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Frequently, the black mailbox lingers empty<\/p>\n\n\n\n
as if waiting for the weekly letter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
