Empty Boxes<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I used a lot of empty boxes from the ABC store to vacate one<\/p>\n\n\n\n
house into another. They were just the right size for me to carry,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
couldn\u2019t make them too heavy for lifting. I had some orange<\/p>\n\n\n\n
plastic milk crates that were perfect for all my poetry files.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I was downsizing my house, kept all the bird books,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mary Oliver, signed copies, the ones friends had written. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gave the rest to the library in hopes of updating their collection. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I think they used them in the library book sale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some boxes had dividers which made them good for moving<\/p>\n\n\n\n
small knick-knacks like the Hummel collection and artwork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Used pages from \u201cThe Independent\u201d for wrapping. Gradually,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
the stack on the hearth became the line along the new living room wall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The last became first: unpacked the bathroom and then the kitchen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Next followed the books because I knew where they would go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Slowly, the line along the wall dwindled to one box of items<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I could not let go of like the picture of us at the Hotel Peabody opening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Maybe it\u2019s time to empty that box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
