Hurricane Rain at Holden Beach <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It slips from the clouds out on the horizon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It marches towards the beach, <\/p>\n\n\n\n
great drops pelt the waves with dimples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It pocks the sand like blasts from a BB gun, <\/p>\n\n\n\n
pastes each grain to its neighbor. It sands<\/p>\n\n\n\n
the driftwood that washes ashore. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It rinses dust from the sea oats, <\/p>\n\n\n\n
salt from the car. It\npummels the window, <\/p>\n\n\n\n
falls softly as the wind drops. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It trickles down my back through the leak<\/p>\n\n\n\n
in my raincoat. It needles my skin as I lean <\/p>\n\n\n\n
into the wind, wishing it would wash <\/p>\n\n\n\n
you from my mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
