Last spring, a red-shouldered<br \/>\nhawk hunted in it.  He nailed a frog, presented<br \/>\nit to his mate watching from a poplar limb.<br \/>\nHidden from beneath the bank\u2019s overhang,<br \/>\na blue bird wetted each flight feather,<br \/>\nfinished its bath in the redbud.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday, the brook was a black slash<br \/>\nborder lined by snow.  Two or three at a time,<br \/>\ngoldfinches dipped into an ice free pool<br \/>\nto drink.  Barking up a storm, the dog<br \/>\npointed to the creek.
