{"id":278,"date":"2018-11-16T19:32:44","date_gmt":"2018-11-16T19:32:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thecatbirdsang.com\/www\/?p=278"},"modified":"2018-11-16T19:32:44","modified_gmt":"2018-11-16T19:32:44","slug":"ut-sweatshirt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thecatbirdsang.com\/www\/ut-sweatshirt\/","title":{"rendered":"UT Sweatshirt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UT Sweatshirt<\/strong><br \/>\nI kept my sweatshirt with short sleeves;<br \/>\ngray with an orange UT in the center. <\/p>\n<p>It is one of the few things I have kept from my college days.<br \/>\nUsed it to warm-up before racket ball.<\/p>\n<p>Folded neatly in the bureau, I take it out sometimes thinking<br \/>\nI will wear it but I don\u2019t.  I want to keep it just for the memories<\/p>\n<p>of basketball practice, running the stairs, eating cheeseburgers<br \/>\nand fries after every practice.  (By the time practice was over, the cafeteria was closed.)<\/p>\n<p>Forty years old, looks good; I keep it with the light blue t-shirt<br \/>\nwith UT Women\u2019s Athletics, on the front;<\/p>\n<p> we\u2019ve come a long way baby on the back.  Must of gotten this one after Title IX.<br \/>\nWe sold doughnuts to fund our field hockey and basketball, used our own cars<\/p>\n<p>to get from game to game.  Rock Hill South Carolina for a tournament<br \/>\nwas a big trip for trip us.  Not the same today, the women have home<\/p>\n<p>and away uniforms, warm-ups, airplanes to get from coast to coast.<br \/>\nNo eating cheeseburgers every night.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t know how long I will keep the sweatshirt,<br \/>\nI have carried it with me from Knoxville, Kentucky, Memphis and North Carolina.<\/p>\n<p>I refold it and put it back with the t shirts.<br \/>\nI guess it will be given away to Good Will.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tMuddy River Poetry Review<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\tSpring 2016<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UT Sweatshirt I kept my sweatshirt with short sleeves; gray with an orange UT in the center.
