She made lists for everything,<br \/>\ngrocery, errands to run, what I was to take back<br \/>\non my return to North Carolina. I use the backs<br \/>\nof envelopes to start poems, lists of chores, calls to be made.<\/p>\n<p>Dad didn\u2019t much care how he dressed;<br \/>\nhe wore Dickies pants and shirts, khaki only.<br \/>\nDressing up was putting on a short sleeved shirt<br \/>\nto go to Shoney\u2019s. My brother bought him a suit<br \/>\nto wear at Mom\u2019s visitation, I had to go to Wal-mart<br \/>\nto get something to wear to Dad\u2019s. In his last days, he wore<br \/>\nhis slippers everywhere.
